Rock Cycle Simulation Investigation
Year 8s are busy in Science with Rock Cycle simulations and have been investigating and demonstrating the process of how rocks in the earth can change from one kind into another kind of rock.
A few simple materials including crayons, sharpeners, candles, aluminium foil, cloths pegs and paper towels, along with a hotplate and hairdryer were used to simulate the metamorphic processes. In nature, rocks are broken down by the forces of nature. The crayons in this experiment represented the rocks and the sharpener represented the weathering agents that cause the rocks to break down into smaller pieces.
